The Significance of the History of the British Labour Movement Experience on Contemporary Chinese Labor Relations

摘要 经历了数百年曲折的发展后,英国的工会已经建立起了一套比较完善的组织体系,通过集体谈判和推动立法,在社会政策、职工工资和福利等重大事项上发挥有力的影响,促使劳动关系调整走上一定的制度化和法制化的轨道。当前中国正处于经济高速发展时期,劳资矛盾不断激化,急需建立一个适应时代的劳动关系体制。在产业升级的战略转型时期以及劳动法规尚未健全的背景下,英国工人运动的历史和劳资冲突协调机制的发展,对于处理中国劳动者权益保障、协调和缓解劳资矛盾等问题具有重要的借鉴意义。 The history of British trade unions has witnessed hundreds years of union development on mobilization, organization, collective bargaining and legal enactment. Now British unions have become important institutions to influence social policy, wage determination and welfare issues, with a critical role within the industrial relations system. As China' rapid economic development is hindered by escalating management-labour conflicts and incomprehensive legal environment, there has been an urgent need to establish a new industrial relations machinery that will be able to mediate and resolve the intensifying labour disputes. Therefore, the history of the British labour movement appears to be an important source of reference for the development of contemporary Chinese trade unions, which should have a vital role in protecting workers' rights.
