The poet Li Po through western eyes is an integrated cultural image combined with his life experience, his character and his poems. However, this image is not the same as Li Po himself, it is an image made by imagination and construction. Through the research on the works written by two famous sinologists Arthur Waley and Stephen Owen, it is clear that the western image of Li Po went through a momentous change in the twentieth century. It began with admiration, and then slowly swung into the rational judgment, finally it became fully comprehensible. The receivers exert an effect on the western image of Li Po, showing the different culture and times that the receivers live in.
