In the novel ＂To the Lighthouse＂, Virginia Woolf portrays a character with Chinese style small eyes——Lily Briscoe. After discussing the consciousness sources of the image of China in Virginia Woolfs artwork and the effects to her writing, what can we see through the small Chinese eyes is that Lily Briscoe＇s Chinese consciousness was come from British social environment where Virginia Woolflives in. It reflects the actual use of Chinese culture byindividual and society of an era.
