Objective To provide better guidance for blood donation recruitment and to reduce the rate of blood scrap through the analysis of the correlation between red blood cell type, plasma type, and the blood donor population. Methods Undergone statistical study on the blood scrap due to red cell and plasma from 2011 to 2012,among which, blood scrap caused by the red cell were mainly for the increased of ALT,the positive of infective marker and others while scrap caused by plasma were for fat plasma and others.Analysis on the correlation between the scrap causes and the donors’ gender, career and age information was mainly conducted. Results From 2011 to 2012,for blood scrap due to the red cell,60.51% was for the increased of ALT,21.87% was for the positive of infective marker while 17.62% was for others. And for blood scrap due to plasma,97.36% was for fat plasma and 2.64% was for others. The correlative analysis between the main blood scrap reason and donors indicates that there was significant difference(P<0.05) between gender, occupation while there was no significant difference between the ages(P>0.05).Conclusion There is a close correlation between blood scrap and the types of blood donors.Blood from female and students has lower scrap rate and it is suggested that requirement of blood donation from female and students should increase, and strengthen the health education and consultancy to male and non-student donors,so as to reduce the blood scrap rate and avoid waste of blood.
