摘要
张之洞在出任两广总督期间,关心和重视海南的文教事业,通过客观分析海南的文教形势,他采取了一些有利于文教事业发展的措施:兴办义学,奏请增设科举名额,访查李德裕遗物及后裔、整修苏东坡遗址,捐资建立祠堂等。虽然这些措施最终未能持续实行,但是它们具有近代开发的意义。
Zhang Zhi-dong had attached great importance to the culture and education in Hainan during his term as governor of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces.He had taken such measures to develop the culture and education in Hainan as establishing free schools,pleading for additional imperial examination quota;enquiring Li De-yu＇s relics and descendants;rebuilding Su Dong-po＇s ruins,donating to build ancestral temples,etc.Failing to be continually implemented,these measures have still brought lasting significance for modern exploitation.
