摘要 一直以来,无线局域网(WLAN)技术都是以提升吞吐量作为主要演进目标,每一代WLAN标准在吞吐量上都会比上一代有大幅提升。当前,最新制定的WLAN标准(IEEE 802.11ac/ad)理论最高吞吐量接近7Gbit/s。然而,在现实的组网环境中(特别是大规模密集组网时),WLAN性能常常与设计性能相去甚远,难以提供良好的用户体验。针对这一问题,IEEE近期启动了下一代无线局域网标准——High Efficiency WLAN(HEW)的研究工作。除了进一步提升频谱效率之外,HEW还将重点提升覆盖范围内各区域的整体吞吐量和各种室内外网络部署环境下的真实性能。 The main purpose of wireless local area network (WLAN) evolution has focused on enhancing data through- put for a long time. The data throughput of a new generation WLAN standard is always much higher than that of the previous one. Currently, the theoretical peak throughput of the newly-defined WLAN standards (IEEE 802.11ac/ad) is almost up to 7 Gbit/s. However, in real-world network environments (esp. for large-scale, desense deployments), the performance of WLAN systems is usually much worse than the design performance, and a good user experience is hard to be guaranteed. To solve this problem, the IEEE recently started a study work on the next-generation WLAN standard-High Efficiency WLAN (HEW). In addition to further improving spectrum efficiency, HEW aims to enhancing the overall data throughput in all coverage areas and the real-world performance in all kinds of indoor and outdoor network deployment environments.
