摘要
基于术语英译是否准确合宜直接关乎文本最终的翻译质量,借助航海技术领域论文翻译中的实例,阐述如何利用网络资源和以Google为代表的搜索引擎的先进功能翻译术语.结果表明,通过充分利用现代电子手段,译者能够从信度和效度两方面提高术语的英译水平.该方法也可适用于其他领域术语的汉译英,为译者带来一定的借鉴意义.
Whether a specialized term is translated from Chinese into English in an accurate and proper way matters a lot to overall quality of translation task. Using real examples found during English translation of journal papers in marine technology, how the abundant Internet resources and advanced functions of search engines like Google help in the translation of terms is introduced. It is proved that today＇ s translators can improve translation quality of terms both from the perspectives of credibility and validity by modern technologies. As these translation skills can also be applied to English translation of Chinese terms in other technological areas, it is hoped that this paper could serve as an inspiration for translators.
