[ Objective] To explore the geographical distribution characteristics of wild mushroom poisoning in Yunnan Province from 2005-2012 by Geographic Information System, and analyze the effect of important environmental factors, and provide scientific evidence for developing control strategies. [Methods]Data of wild mushroom poisoning incidents and the relevant geographical information in Yunnan province from 2005 to 2012 were collected. MapInfo 7.8 software was used to make thematic map. The relevance of wild mushroom poisoning and geographical factors was analyzed through using multivariate linear regression. [ Results ] There were 187 wild mushroom poisoning events reported from 2005-2012. Two gathering areas located in southwest ( Canton County, Wenshan City, Yanshan County, Qiubei County of Wenshan Prefecture ) and southeast ( Lancang County, Menghan County, Lincang Cangyuan County, Fengqing County of Pu' er City and Menghai County of Xishuangbanna Prefecture ) of Yunnan province. Consistency was found between annual average temperature, annual precipitation and the prevalence of wild mushroom poisoning, while anti-consistency was found between latitude and annual per capita net income of rural residents. [ Conclusion] The prevalence of wild mushroom poisoning is obviously distributed geographically in Yunnan Province. Relevant departments should develop effective measures, based on the geographical distribution of its occurrence characteristics and related factors.
