The article depicted design process and achievement of Nanhui Dongtan Wildlife Sanctuary Work Station in Shanghai. The space organization, circulation plan and material use in this design were very much following suggestions of land form and landscape elements. Other than various technology applications including box prefabrication and rapid assembly, the project tended to build up a mutual respect between building and nature, which would benefit the adjacent urban development. Early study and observation on costal wetland was a key resource for setting such a design agenda.
