For the purpose of investigating the main factors of groundwater salinization and the mechanism of seawater intrusion in the coastal plain of Yang River and Dai River, this paper collets various water samples (river water, shallow groundwater, brackish water, rainwater, seawater and deep water) to analyze their characteristics of hydrochemistry and isotopes. On the basis of the analysis of the environment isotopes (8180-82H), the characteristics of major hydrochemical composition, the ratios of major ions and gibbs plot, the research results suggest that rock weathering and evaporation are the dominant processes in the evolvement of river water and shallow groundwater;the brackish water is the result of the mixture of seawater and shallow fresh groundwater and is also affected by the evaporation of shallow groundwater, and some brackish samples are possibly affected by geothermal water, such as Q06; moreover, some deep groundwater may be also influenced by seawater, such as Q35. The integration of different hydrogeochemi- cal results (mix proportion and saturation index ) reveals that the highest mix proportion is 4.35 ~ and Ca- Na cation exchange should be the main hydrogeochemical reactions controlling the hydrogechemical evolu tion of brackish water. In all kinds of samples, calcite and dolomite are in the state of saturation while gyp- sum, anhydrite and halite represent the state of undersaturation.
