Seen as the desire held by a love sick stepmother toward her stepson, "Phaedra complex" is named after the story of Phaedra in Greek myth. Starting from Euripides' Hippolytus, numerous works on this motif have formed a net of intertexualization and more than 2, 400 years' rewriting tradition. In 1996, British playwright Sarah Kane promoted this tradition to the modem era with Phaedra's Love. Through analyzing the deep intertextual relations between this play and Seneca's Phaedra and its modem meaning, the present paper concludes that Phaedra's Love has deconstructed Britain's capitalist consumerism and royal culture with specific realistic concern, which aualifies itself as a new classic of"Phaedra complex" rewriting,.
