摘要
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a life threatening respiratory failure due to lung injury from a variety of precipitants.Mechanical ventilation (MV) is the foundation in the supportive management of patients with ARDS.1 However,it is associated with several complications, such as increased risk of pneumonia and development of lung injury. The improved understanding of ARDS and complications from MV has been considered important in designing lung-protective ventilatory strategies aimed at attenuating or preventing organ dysfunction and improving outcomes.
