Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of hyaluronic acid dressings applied after ultra-pulse carbon-dioxide fractional laser therapy. Methods Altogether 82 post-aene patients with facial atrophy scar were enrolled in this study. After the treatment with ultra-pulse carbon-dioxide fractional laser, the patients were randomly divided into two groups. The patients in the experiment group were smeared with hyaluronic acid dressings on the face for20 minutes immediately after the laser therapy, and then once per day for 10 days. Except hyaluronic acid dressings, the patients in the control group were treated just as those in the experiment group. Inflammatory reactionswere measured semi-quantitatively, such as erythema, edema and burning sensation. The time for crust formulation/desquamation and comfort level of patients was evaluated on day 10. The post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation rate was compared on day 30. Results Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed a better improvement of acute inflammatory responses (P 〈 0. 01 ). The period of complete desquamation of crusts were significantly different(P 〈 0. 05) between the two groups. Statistical difference (P 〈 0. 05) was observed in comfort level of patients between them. The incidence rate of PIH was lower (P 〈 0. 05) in the experiment group than in the control group. No adverse reaction was reported in the triM. Conclusions Hyaluronic acid dressings are effective inreducing side-effects after fraction carbon-dioxide laser and improving patients satisfaction.
