Objective To investigate the moderating effects of parental monitoring and warmth on the relationship between deviant peer affiliation and adolescent problem behaviors. Methods: Participants include 1387 pairs of adolescenttwins aged 9-19 years(M=13.5, SD=0.50) derived from the Beijing Twin Study(BeTwiSt). Self-reported questionnaires wereused to measure the problem behaviors, deviant peer affiliation and parental monitoring and warmth. Results: ①Adolescents' problem behaviors were significantly correlated with sex, age, parental monitoring and warmth, and deviant peer affil-iation. ②Both mother' s and father' s higher level of monitoring buffered the detrimental influence of deviant peer affiliationon adolescent problem behaviors. ③Mother' s, but not father' s, higher level of warmth buffers the detrimental influence ofdeviant peer affiliation on adolescent problem behaviors. Conclusion: Parental monitoring and mother' s warmth can protect adolescent from detrimental influence of deviant peer affiliation on adolescent problem behaviors.
