摘要
西班牙殖民统治菲律宾后期,实行"以华养菲"、"以华制华"的"甲必丹制",即殖民当局挑选对其"忠诚"的华侨领袖作为甲必丹,代其管理华侨社会。甲必丹为当局履行"职责"的同时,也为华侨排忧解难和争取权益,有效增进了华侨与殖民者之间的联络与沟通,减少了相互的猜忌和矛盾,华侨生存状况逐渐好转。总体而言,菲律宾"甲必丹制"对华侨社会是有利的。
During the late period of Spanish colonial rule, the Overseas Chinese were under the reign of ＂Capitan System＂ which used Chinese to serve the society of the Philippines and meanwhile to control other Overseas Chinese. The colonial authority chose the ＂loyal＂ Chinese leader as so-called Capitan to govern the Overseas Chinese society. The Capitan not only exercised the responsibilities required by the colonial authority, but also solved the problems and claim for rights for other Overseas Chinese, facilitated the communication between Overseas Chinese and colonists, ciety benefited and improved gradually the living condition of Overseas Chinese. Overall, the Overseas Chinese sotremendously from the implement of ＂Capitan System＂.
