摘要
《红楼梦》是一部融合了中国几千年传统文化的经典著作,许多学者都曾对这部小说进行过翻译,其中杨宪益夫妇的译本和霍克斯的译本最具影响力。文章以两译本中文化负载词的英译为研究对象,通过对两位译者不同的文化取向和翻译策略的分析和探讨,提出有助于"中国文化走出去"的途径和方法。
The Story of the Stone is a classic of Chinese literature, which embodies Chinese traditional cul- ture. Among those who have translated this novel, Yan Xianyi, Gladys Yang and Hawkes have created the most influential English versions. This paper tries to make a comparison and analysis with the examples con- cerned with the translation of the culture-loaded words in the two versions from the perspectives of the translator's orientation and their translation strategies so as to offer some suggestions for introducing Chinese culture into the world.
