The demodulation principle of fiber optic hydrophone is described. A 3×3 coupler based demodulator for fiber optic hydrophones is introduced,followed by analysis and comparison of two different kinds of demodulation technique. It is pointed out that the 3×3 coupler demodulation technique is a preferred approach for making up all fiber interferometric hydrophones and hydrophone arrays for the future.
