The theory of motivation and foreign language learning

摘要 动机是外语学习中的一个关键因素 ,目前国内对动机领域的研究还没有受到足够的重视。文章试从动机理论入手 ,介绍了动机的定义和分类 ,论述了动机在外语学习中的重要性 。 Motivation in foreign language learning is a major area of concern to teachers and researchers. However, in China, motivation is an ignored area to some degree. This paper provides an introduction to motivation theories, definition and classifications,discusses the importance of motivation in foreign language learning, presents the problems of English language teaching in China and makes some recommendations to address these problems so as to strengthen the students'learning motivation.
