摘要
糖生物学是糖的化学和生物学研究相结合产生的一门新兴学科 ,研究糖缀合物糖链的结构、生物合成和生物学功能。糖生物学研究在国际上受到高度重视 ,在即将到来的基因组学时代 ,糖生物学研究更是被视为揭示生命本质所不可缺少的重要方面。已知糖链在细胞内可修饰调控蛋白质、脂类的结构与功能 ,在细胞外环境参与免疫应答、感染和癌症等过程中的细胞识别 ,但对其作用机制还不完全清楚。本文介绍糖生物学的研究动态和发展趋势。
Glycobiology, which was emerged from the coming together of the chemistry and biology of carbohydrates in understanding of the cellular and molecular biology of glycans, is the study of the structure, biosynthesis, and biology of sugar chains. Glycobiology has been attracting extensive attentions in western countries and accepted as an essential field to reveal the nature of life in the coming postgenomics era. Carbohydrate modifications of proteins and lipids are key factors in modulating their structure and function within cells. In the extracellular environment, they exert effects on cellular recognition in immune response, infection, and cancer, but details of the specific mechanisms have often been sketchy. The paper overviews the advances and future direction in glycobiology field.
