An amphoteric polyurethane(APU) with acid(—COOH) and alkaline(—N(CH 3) 2) groups on the side chains had been prepared by self\|emusifying methods. This kind of amphoteric polyurethane (APU) can form stable nanometer sized waterborne dispersions in acid or alkaline media. The studing results indicated that pH values affect the particle sizes and stability of the APU waterborne dispersions greatly.\;
