This paper deals with a new species of Cyclophoridae collected from Guizhou Province. Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.Gastroptychia maolanensis sp. nov. (Figs.1-2) Holotype. Alt. 2.43*!mm, diam. 1.38*!mm; alt. of aperture 0.88*!mm, diam. of aperture 0.94*!mm; collected from Maolan Town, Libo County (25°3′N, 108°0′E), Guizhou Province, China, 12 July 1998. Paratypes 28 specimens. Alt. 2.31-2.50*!mm, diam. 1.31-1.44*!mm; alt. of aperture 0.75-1.60*!mm, diam. of aperture 0.88-1.06*!mm; collected from Maolan Town, Libo County (25°3′N, 108°0′E), Guizhou Province, China, 12 July 1998. Shell very small, a little thick, lustrous, pupa-formed. Whorls 6-612, moderately convex, with high spiral part, the primordial 1-2 whorls very convex. Shell yellowish brown, surface very rough and with some rib-stria, with 5 thick ribs at body whorl, and the protoconch smooth but dull. Aperture circular, thick, with two lips, somewhat expanded and turning over, and with a very small columellar marginal tooth. Operculum circular, cuticular, translucent, light yellowish brown. Umbilicus small. Apex blunt, suture deep. This new species fairly resembles Gastroptychia laurentiana (Moellendorff, 1885) but differs from the latter in having the small size: the shell with length 2.43*!mm, diam. 1.38*!mm; length of aperture 0.88*!mm, diam. of aperture 0.94*!mm. Whorls 6-612, surface very rough and with some rib-stria, and with a very small columellar marginal tooth. The latter species with length 6.50*!mm, diam. 2.50*!mm; length of aperture 1.00*!mm, diam. of aperture 1.00*!mm. Whorls 8, and with a palatine fold superior in the penultimate whorl. Peristome intermediate incrassate, anfractuous.
