Objective: To investigate the relationship among mobile phone addiction tendency, interpersonal disturbance and loneliness in college students. Methods: A sample of 780 students( 376 boys and 404 girls) were selected from four universities in Guangxi. The Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale( MPATS),Interpersonal Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale( ICDS) and UCLA loneliness Scale( UCLA-LS) were used to measure mobile phone addiction tendency, interpersonal disturbance and loneliness. Structural equation model and the bootstrap method were used to estimate mediating effect. Results: Path analysis of structural equation model showed that mobile phone addiction tendency was predicted positively by interpersonal disturbance( β = 0. 36,P <0. 001). The bootstrap method estimation indicated that loneliness significantly mediated the effect of interpersonal disturbance on mobile phone addiction tendency, with a mediating effect of 0. 12,a bias-corrected 95% confidence interval of( 0. 07,0. 16),and an effect size of 0. 48. Conclusion: The results suggest that loneliness may play a mediating effect on the relationship between mobile phone addiction tendency and interpersonal disturbance.
