In combination with the technical development and its practice, the purpose, function, type and system constitution of comprehensive automation technology for the distribution substation were described. The features, advantages and disadvantages of comprehensive automation and protective devices for the distribution substation in some famous companies at home and abroad were analyzed and compared.
