田纳西·威廉斯在美国文学史上以其反映美国南方风情的一系列剧作而著名 ,其中尤以《玻璃动物园》中的阿曼达 ,《欲望号街车》中的布兰琪以及《夏天与烟》中的阿尔玛 3位女性具有代表性 ,通过分析这些女性在社会变革中是如何走向毁灭和消亡的 。
In American literary history, Tennesse Williams is famous for many of his plays which unroll vivid pictures of the south of America, especially for the unforgettable southern female figures. By analyzing the lives of Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, Blanch in A Streetcar Named Desire and Alma in Summer and Smoke, this thesis tries to display the fading away of these southern beauties in the process of social change from the plantation economy to the industry economy in the south of America.
