College English Curriculum Design Based on Learner Needs Analysis

摘要 目前,国家的人才战略与社会需求促使各高校越来越关注大学英语教学,大学英语课程设置在近十余年的改革中得到了阶段性提高,但也存在一些问题,如课程目标泛化、课程课型分类趋同、课程实施缺乏内涵式发展等。究其原因,研究者、政府管理部门多从宏观角度用自上而下的方式制订教学目标,忽视了大学生主体的学习需求。为了解决这一问题,在研究了国内外有关外语课程的需求分析、借鉴前人需求分析模型以及对非英语专业本科生进行调查后得出如下结论:基于校本研究的学习者需求呈复杂性、多样性和个性化趋势,其中学习者在以下四个方面需求强烈:课程目标应更加重视英语听说能力的培养;课程内容应增加课外辅助练习资料以及网络媒体英语资源;课程实施需要多样化教学;课程评价应以过程性评价为主,终结性评价为辅。因此,应当结合学习者需求,对大学英语课程设置进行有针对性的调整。 Currently,Chinese universities are more concerned about College English education due to our nations' talentdevelopment strategy and social needs. The College English curriculum has made periodical achievements in the past 10 years of reforms, but problems persist, such as the generalization of curriculum objectives, the convergence of curriculum classifications and the lack of connotative development in curriculum implementation. One reason for this is that many researchers and administrators employ a top-down approach to setting teaching objectives and ignore university students' learning needs. To solve this problem,the researcher conducted an analysis of the learning needs both domestically and abroad for foreign lan guage curriculums, borrowing the learning needs analysis models of previous researchers and made an investigation of college non-English majors. The conclusion of this university-based research shows that learners' needs tend to be muttifaceted, diversified,and personalized. The learners seem to have the greatest need for the following four issues:English listening and speaking competence need to be emphasized in curriculum objectives;supplementary and internet media resources need to he increased in curriculum content; curriculum implementation calls for diversified teaching methods; curriculum evaluation should be formative and summative. Therefore, learners' needs should be integrated to make purposeful adjustments to the College English curriculum.
