For the promotion of excellent glyphosate-resistant transgenic soybean varieties , a field test was conducted in this study to evaluate the glyphosate-resistant transgenic soybean SNT1. The randomized block design was used in the field trial, and 41% Roundup herbicide (glyphosate) was sprayed on plants at the podding period of soybean. After herbicide treatment, plant phenotypes were observed, and the soybean death rate was recorded. The agronomic traits analyzed include major stages of soybean growth and development as well as the grain yield-related phenotypes for the treated and the control soybeans, respectively. After spraying the herbicide, the results for non-transgenic control soy- bean (SN99-1) seedling death was up to 98.86% while the transgenic soybean SNT1 was 1.02%seedling showed symptom. No differences between SN99-1 and SNT1 was detected for the agronomic traits including growth period, flower color, stern node number, pod number per plant and 100 seed weight. The results showed that transgenic soy- bean SNT1 displayed a stable and effective glyphosate-resistant phenotype under the field condition. Moreover, the ex- pression of this glyphosate-resistant pbenotype did not affect other important agronomic traits. The new transgenic germplasm (SNT1) of glyphosate-resistance soybean can be further utilized in breeding program for new soybean varie- ties with excellent comprehensive agronomic traits and high resistance against the herbicide.
