小说《长日留痕》主要人物史蒂文斯的回忆之旅以他个人的过往为线索,展现了其身份失却的过程、原因以及对真相的还原和自我回归的历程,同时映照出了在其个人背后时隐时现的帝国的扩张和衰败的历史。石黑一雄以历史为透镜,运用新的叙事形式呈现了他对个体生命价值的关注。
From a unique perspective of recollecting, this paper explores the process of the character＇s loss and reasons for loss. By reading the novel The Remains of the Day, the truth is restored, the character is able to attain his real self-identity. Stevens＇ personal past is the clue for his memory journey as well as the reflection of the expansion and decline of the empire behind him. Kazuo Ishiguro views history as a lens through which he shows concern for individual＇ s life value with new narrative techniques.
