[Objective]To estimate the prevalence of lens opacity among radiation workers exposed to long-term low-dose ionizing radiation in Huaian City.[Methods]306 radiation workers in medical institutions and 105 non-radiation workers were detected by the slit lamp to investigate the status of lens opacity, and the results were analyzed. [Results]The rate of lens opacity in radiation workers was 12.75%, which was higher than that in non-radiation workers(P〈0.01). There were significant differences in the rate of lens opacity among radiation workers in different age, length of service groups (P〈0.01). The difference in the rate of lens opacities among radiation workers in different work type groups was not significant (P〉0.05).[Conclusion]Exposure to long-term low-dose ionizing radiation can cause the increasing risk of lens opacity in radiation workers. It is necessary to strengthen protection among radiation workers in medical institutions of Huaian City.
