In recent years, mega-event has become a propeller for economic development and the image of the host city. With increasing cultural awareness, host cities not only focus on economic benefits generated by mega-events, but also begin to pay attention to the relationship between mega-events and regional culture. It is discovered that, on the opening ceremonies of the 2009 and 2013 National Games, mega-events contributed to the representation and dissemination of regional culture. Through representing regional cultural symbols, opening ceremonies reconstruct a collective cultural memory; through modeling or restoring the scenes of specific culture, opening ceremonies effectively reveal the rich implications of regional culture; and through watching opening ceremony performances on the spot or through media participation, the dissemination scope of regional culture is extended.
