摘要
音乐剧《时光当铺》(2011)具有鲜明的理想主义特质,这源于剧作者曹禅对北美华人移民史的深刻反思,以及对当代中美对话关系现状的建构性把握。以介入现实、改写未来的自觉意识正视历史,曹禅的戏剧创作不仅是当代美国华裔文学批评精神的跨国传承,也是当前青年一代要求在"全球化"时代有所作为的先锋之声。
Pawn, a musical(2011), is vividly characterized by its idealism because of Karmia Chan Cao, its playwright’s profound reflections upon the history of Chinese migrants to North America and her mastery of the construction of the situation involving the relationship of dialogues between China and America. Chan Cao’s play, self-consciously confronting the history by intervening in the reality and re-writing the future, is not only a transnational inheritance of the critical spirit in American-Chinese literature but also a voice of the avant-garde by the younger generation who want to play a role in the age of“globalization”.
