摘要
《左传·宣公四年》载楚令尹子文幼时曾由虎乳之,故名榖於菟。然婴儿由虎养大实不可能,故历来注疏曲为之说。今见上博简《成王为城濮之行》中子文自称"余",其即文献上的"榖於菟"。其中""字加上了虎形,为楚人的用字习惯,非有义可说。但当不清楚这种习惯用法的人看了,就很可能把"虍"形当作义符来解读,再加上前后有"""余"两字,很容易把"余"联想成"虎余",即"虎乳养我"之义,而造就了一段离奇的传说。
