Objective: To discuss how to reduce the occurrence of needle drop, liquid leakage, and accidental needle withdrawal in pediatric patients' vein detained needle, thereby to prolong the time for vein detailed needle. Methods: 150 cases of patients with vein detailed needle were randomly divided into 3 groups, 50 in each. A group was fixed by 3M transparent dressing and tape. The B group used elastic bandage. The C group employed the chil- dren's own socks. Comparisons were made in terms of needle drop, liquid leakage, accidental needle withdrawal and detained time. Results: Needle drop, liquid leakage and accidental withdraw of the B and C groups significantly re- duced, and detained time was remarkably longer as opposed to the A group. Conclusion: Application of personal socks lengthened the time of vein detained needle, relieve patients sufferings, alleviate nurses' workload, reduce patients fi- nancial burden, which is acceptable on the part of patients and medical staff.
