Blend Modification of ABS Using Branched Polystyrene

摘要 通过乳液聚合,以链转移剂单体为支化单体,合成支化聚苯乙烯(BPS),并以其作为流变改性剂;作为参比,同时合成了相近相对分子质量及其分布的线型聚苯乙烯(LPS)与ABS共混,研究不同结构聚苯乙烯对ABS的改性效果。考察了ABS/PS共混体系的流变性能、力学性能和热性能。结果表明,在ABS中加入质量分数为1%的相对较窄相对分子质量分布的高相对分子质量BPS,即可有效降低基体的剪切黏度,改善其流动性,同时可以保持基体良好的力学性能和热性能;而在加入相同质量分数LPS的情况下,基材的力学性能和热性能虽然也可以得到保持,但共混物的流动性不但没有得到改善,黏度反而有小幅度上升。 Branched polystyrene (BPS) with high molecular weight and relatively narrow molecular weight distribution was prepared through emulsion radical polymerization of styrene in the presence of 3-mercapto-hexyl methacrylate (MHM). BPS was introduced in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS) matrix to study properties of the blends. As the reference, linear polystyrene (LPS) with the similar molecular weight and molecular weight distribution was also added in the ABS matrix. The theological properties, mechanical properties and thermal properties of these ABS/PS blends were investigated in detail. The results show that the shear viscosity of ABS/BPS is markedly decreased when 1% BPS is introduced to ABS in mass. Also, the mechanical properties and thermal properties of ABS/BPS blends are invariable. In contrast, the shear viscosity of ABS/LPS blends is slightly increased.
