＂Paper Dragon Burning＂ is a worship ritual observed by the Miao People in western Hunan Province. Traced back to more than 300 years ago, this ritual is held to pray for good weather and a bumper harvest. On the evening of the 15th day of the first lunar month every year, Miao people in Majingao Town and Hexi Town organize their Dragon Teams to pay New Year calls from house to house in this part of the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.
