Many images of mirrors have been found in the wedding ceremonies of the wall paintings in Dunhuang caves. These mirrors were common objects used in local wedding ceremonies as talismans or holy items, and were used during ceremonies for brides and grooms to worship. Mirrors were also symbols of the spiritual union of marriage and the auspicious wishes granted to newly married couples.
