As a second signal of T cell activation, costimulatory molecules play a key role in the immune response. Costimulatory molecules include positive and negative costimulatory molecules, and the expression of costimulatory molecules in tumor tissues directly affects the prognosis. After radiotherapy, the expression of positive and negative costimulatory molecules will be changed, which can result in the change of tumor microenvironment. In this paper, we review the expression trend of several common costimulatory molecules in the tumor after radiotherapy, and try to explore a new treatment model which combained tumor immunotherapy with radiotherapy.
