With the rapid development of urban rail system, many new lines have been constructed and put into operation. In order to assess the impact of the new lines on existing lines and optimize transportation organization accordingly, accurate forecasting for the passenger flow entering and departing existing stations is required. This study proposed a forecasting model on passenger flow entering and departing existing urban rail stations after connection of new lines with existing lines, based on the analysis of the natural variation of passenger flow entering and departing existing urban rail stations and the impact of new lines on the existing stations.First, the natural variation of passenger flow entering and departing existing urban rail stations was analyzed based on the multiply ARIMA model.Second, taking into consideration of the possible diversion effect of the new line on existing stations, the site accessibility index was introduced to carry out quantitative analysis on the effects of the new line on induced passenger flow entering and departing existing stations,to establish the forecasting model on passenger flow entering and departing existing stations after connection of new lines. Finally, using the historical passenger flow data collected by AFC system of Guangzhou Metro, the proposed model was calibrated and examined. The results showed that the proposed model has better prediction accuracy and is more effectively applicable to the forecast of passenger flow entering and departing existing stations after the change of rail network topology.
