Enterovirus 71 ( EV71 ) is one of the major causative agents of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) , which belongs to the genus Enterovirus within the family Picomaviridae. Dendritic cells (DCs) are the main antigen presenting cells, which play a central role in the process of capturing, processing and presenting antigen, as well as in inducing specific immune response. By far, the interplay between EV71 and DCs is not very clear, and the mechanism of EV71 immune escape has not been revealed. The first interaction between EVT1 and DCs is accomplished by the binding of ligand to the receptor. Receptors of DCs contribute to the virus recognition, capture and presentation, and trigger cell autophagy and immune responses. On the other hand, virus can also escape from host immune responses by means of the interaction with the cell receptor. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge regarding cross-talk between EV71 and cell receptors on DCs and other human cells, providing a reference for the research of EV71 infection.
