摘要
英格兰学派在冷战中自主发展成为一个独具特色的国际关系理论流派,并在冷战后将其影响扩展到全球范围。对其发展动因,传统的解释主要有时代背景说、学术机制说和理论硬核说。三种解释都对这一问题的回答做出了一定的贡献,但也存在一些偏颇甚至误导性的因素。通过考察英格兰学派思想的发展脉络,可以发现其内部存在很大的争议性和调和性,这一特点通过大会话的方式呈现出来。在推动大会话展开并向纵深发展的过程中,马丁·怀特、赫德利·布尔、亚当·沃森和巴里·布赞四位学者的作用尤为明显,他们是核心概念的界定者和话语体系的构建者。与美国主流国际关系理论流派之间的大辩论相比,英格兰学派的大会话是学派内部的、围绕宏大主题进行的、具有很强包容性的会话。尽管大会话中出现了一系列的二分论,但并未导向非此即彼的二元对立。这种成长路径对于中国国际关系理论建设具有借鉴意义,主要表现为通过内向性发展构建话语体系,并通过外向性发展拓宽研究领域。
The English School independently developed into a unique international relations theory during the cold war,and extends its influence to the world after the cold war.There are three traditional explanations of this development,namely historical background,academic mechanism and theoretical hardcore.All have made certain contributions to the answer,but they also contain some biased or even misleading elements.Through the thread of the English School thoughts,we can find the characteristics of internal controversy and reconciliations,which are displayed in great conversations.As the definers of core concepts and the constructors of discursive system,Martin Wight,Hedley Bull,Adam Watson and Barry Buzan play key roles in promoting the further development of great conversations.Compared with the great debates between American mainstream IR schools of thoughts,the great conversations within the English School are rather internal,grandly thematic and more inclusive.Although a series of dichotomies emerge,they do not guide to binary oppositions.For Chinese IR studies,the main lesson from the English School is to construct discursive system through introversive development,as well as to widen the research field through extroversive development.
