摘要
长篇小说《床畔》是严歌苓最新创作的一部稍稍离地飞起来的作品,叩问人性的沉重主题通过老练通畅的书写,得到了最大程度的展现和升华。女主人公万红的行为举止和思想境界具有镜照当下社会价值观、道德状况乃至人类精神背景的意义,她将成为当代文学中一个较为典型的人物形象。小说对于"英雄"标准问题的探讨虽然可以放之四海,但不能离开具体的时代语境,显示了华人作家全球性写作的特点和阈限。
At the Bedside, a novel, is a most recent book by Yan Geling that takes flight slightly off the ground, its heavy theme questioning humanity, because of the smooth and sophisticated way it＇s written, gaining a display and transcendence to a maximum degree. The way Wan Hung, the female protagonist, behaves and thinks is significant in that it, like a mirror, reflects the current social values, the moral state of things, and the spiritual background to human beings; she is likely to become a typical image in contemporary literature. Although the exploration in the novel of issues involving the standards of ＇ a hero＇ can apply universally, it cannot divorce itself from the concrete context of the time, thus revealing the characteristics and limitations of writing by huaren writers on a global scale.
