摘要
不同控股股东背景下企业对负面报道后是否进行声明的选择不同。本文主要研究国企和民企负面报道后的印象管理动机差异,以及由此导致的组织声明行为差异。以中国2009-2015年A股上市公司为样本,用来自公司网站的"声明"数据验证,本文研究发现:(1)负面报道后,民企相比国企更偏好进行声明;(2)进一步分析表明,负面报道威胁水平越高,国企和民企更可能进行声明;针对不可辩解型负面报道,国企相比民企更偏好进行声明,针对可辩解型,结果则相反;负面报道威胁水平对负面报道类型与国企和民企声明策略的使用起负向调节作用。本文还发现,社会地位越高以及其他声明越多的民企,越偏好声明,但是社会地位的高低以及其他声明对国企负面报道后声明策略的使用没有影响。本文研究结论有助于了解不同控股股东企业印象管理策略选择的差异,弥补了有关负面报道后组织行为差异研究的不足。
Corporations controlled by different shareholders have different selections on whether claim a statement or not after receive a public negative report. This paper studies different impression management motive between state-owned enterprise and private enterprise after receive public negative reports, as well as different statement strategies used by them. This study takes Chinese listed company from 2009 to 2015 as sample, and uses statement reports shown on each company official website. According to two com- ponents model theory, impression motivation decided impression construction. We analyzed these data and found the following two ob- servations. 1. After companies receive negative report, private enter- prises behave more proactive than that of the state-owned companies, and they make more statements and wish to establish a good impres- sion in front of public. 2. Furthermore, the negative report threat lev- els have positive impact on possibility of making statement for both state-owned and private companies; and for indefensible negative report, state-owned is more likely to make claim than that of private company, for defensible negative report, the result is contrary; also the negative report threat level plays moderate effect on relationship between type of negative report and company state strategy. In case of high level threat, state-owned enterprises are more likely to make statement than that of private ones when receive defensible negative report, and when receiving indefensible negative report, private en- terprises are more likely to claim statement than that of state-owned enterprises. When facing low level threat, private enterprises are more likely to make claim than that of state-owned enterprise on de- fensible negative report, and when receiving indefensible state-owned enterprises are more likely to make statement than that of private enterprises. This paper also found social status has positive impact on private enterprise claim strategy when receive negative report, but has no impacts on state-owned company. For both private and state- owned companies are more willing to make statement after negative report if they frequently use impression management. Conclusion may help different companies with their impression management strategy, and provide comprehensive research study on organization behavior which fills the shortage in this field.
