Among the ten existing fu poems on rats, the descriptions are indistinguishable concerning rats' activities, life and conflicts with human beings and even their symbolic themes are largely identical with minor differences. Those fu writers were reasonable, because generally rats are a kind of animals that are extremely insatiable and always want something for nothing. However, among so many literary genres in 1,000 years, why have not there been different opinions on the image of rats fu poems? Tracing to The Book of Songs, it is found that the rat image has been so long made into a stereotype. Besides, in the process of research through the concrete writings on rats, the paper makes an investigation of the influence of "six meanings" on the genre, rules and uses of fu. Moreover, the paper systematically expounds why fu was developed from The Book of Songs.
