摘要 对于数量性状能否作基因定位的问题,过去认为这是不可能的。因为数量性状是受微效多基因决定。而这些基因的数目和单独效应又很难确定。下面刊出的李玉奎和吴常信两位先生撰写的《RFLP在动物育种中应用的前景》一文对这一问题的解决介绍了可供研究的途径。 DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms exist in all animal and plant species investigated and can be detected through DNA recombination and Southern blot hybridization and mapped on to chromosomes by pedigree analysis.So mapped RFLP loci can be used for marker-assisted selection of quantitative trait loci in animal breeding.To construct a linkage map that spans a whole animal genome with no spacing between a RFLP marker locus and locus of interest being larger than 10cM, identification of a large number of polymorphic markers is required. A breeding strategy may be the use of c-hromosome-specif ic genomic library rather than a total genomic library, which can reduce the number of markers required for a genome coverage by 30 % and facilitate the application of RFLPs to animal improvement.
