Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Yangying Tongbi decoction in treating the syndromes of deficiency of heart-qi and stagnant blockade of heart blood in patients with stable angina. Methods: Forty-four stable angina patients with deficiency of heart-qi and stagnant blockade of heart blood were randomly divided into control group( n = 22) and treatment group( n = 22). The control group received Western medicine treatment alone, while the treatment group was given Yangying Tongbi decoction in addition to the Western medicine treatment. The clinical outcome and electrocardiographic outcome were evaluated for the two groups. Results: Compared with the control group, the treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate for clinical outcome( 86. 4% vs77. 3%,P〈0. 05),and a significantly higher overall response rate for electrocardiographic outcome( 81. 8% vs63. 6%,P〈0. 05). After treatment, both groups showed a significant change in angina score( P〈0. 05),and there was a significant difference in angina score between the two groups( P〈0. 05). Conclusion: Yangying Tongbi decoction combined with Western medicine treatment has better clinical efficacy than Western medicine treatment alone in the treatment of stable angina.
