Objective To discuss the clinical value of immature platelet fraction( IPF) related parameters in diagnosis of children with iron deficiency anemia( IDA). Methods 63 peripheral blood samples were collected from healthy children in Wenzhou. Sysmex XE-5000 was used to detected five IPF related parameters including absolute value of immature platelet( IPF),ratio of immature platelet, ratio of high fluorescence immature platelet, average intensity of lateral fluorescence of platelet( PLT-X) and number of reticular platelet( PLT-O). Meanwhile,146 peripheral blood samples collected from children clinically diagnosed IDA were detected. IDA patients were classified according to the severity of the anemia, and compared them with healthy children. Statistical analysis was performed to the data. Results In control group, these parameters of PLT-,immature platelet ratio, high fluorescence immature platelet ratio, and IPF,PLT-X parameters showed no statistical significance on the difference between male and female( P〈0. 05). Compared with the control group, the IPF,immature platelet ratio, high fluorescence, immature platelet ratio, and PLT-X index in children with IDA showed statistical significance on the difference( P〈0. 01). Mild IDA,moderate IDA patients,PLT-O index were compared with those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant( P〈0. 01). Conclusion The results showed that these new IPF related parameters presented some value in clinical diagnosis of children with IDA.
