摘要
在招生数量减少及其引起的经费短缺等各种力量的拉扯下,美国文理学院正在向新的方向发展。文理学院对引领其办学的指导和管理理念、设置的课程和学习项目、筹措经费的策略以及内外合作等方面都做出了不同程度的调整,而办学理念和模式上的变化反映了文理学院当下面临的困境及其应对措施。研究文理学院的办学,尤其是这一特定类型的高等教育机构对博雅教育的重视及其在外部压力之下的转向,能为我国高校更好地发挥自身作用提供借鉴和参考。
Under various tensions like decreasing enrollment rates and shortage of financial resources due to enrollment problem, liberal arts colleges in the U.S. are marching toward a new direction. Adjustment has been made at different levels, including the leading school-running and managing philosophy, curriculum and learning programs, fund-raising strategies and cooperation inside and outside of the country. The adjustment reflects the existing dilemma faced by liberal arts colleges and their countermeasures. Research on the school-running experience of liberal arts colleges in the U.S., especially the emphasis on liberal education by this specific type of higher education institution and its diversion under external pressure, could provide some references for Chinese universities and colleges to better fulfill their functions.
