摘要
赛珍珠与纽约庄台出版公司之间有着深厚的渊源。一方面,庄台出版公司及沃尔什对赛珍珠的文学事业大力扶持,为赛珍珠作品的发表与推广提供平台,可以说庄台出版公司成就了赛珍珠;另一方面,赛珍珠以自己的作品和专业特长支持庄台出版公司,并动用自己的社会关系为庄台出版公司寻找优质稿源,可以说赛珍珠挽救了庄台出版公司。在出版业走向市场化的今天,研究赛珍珠与庄台出版公司这种相互依存、相互支撑的互动关系,不但具有学理研究意义,而且具有实践指导价值。
There exists a profound relationship between Pearl S.Buck and the John Day Company,New York.On the one hand,the John Day Company and Walsh vigorously supported Pearl S.Buck's literary career,providing aplatform for publication and circulation of Pearl S.Buck's works,hence the conclusion could be drawn that the John Day Company made the story of Pearl S.Buck's success as a writer,publisher and social activist.On the other hand,Pearl S.Buck supported the John Day Company with her works and professional expertise,employing her social relations to search for quality manuscripts for the John Day Company,so Pearl S.Buck rescued the John Day Company as it were.In modern times when publishing industry becomes market-orientated,research on the interdependency and mutual support between Pearl S.Buck and the John Day Company is not only of theoretical research significance but also of practical instruction importance.
