摘要 This paper makes a literature review of Bernstein's knowledge structure theory and its influence on systemic functional linguistics. Then it explores systemic functional linguists' research on knowledge building and discusses Martin's theory of field as a powerful tool to analyze the knowledge structure in educational discourse.
