English writing,as a critical yet weak part of English teaching, has drawn substantial concern from scholars; however, scant attention has been paid to the pre-writing phase. Based on the theory of multimodality, this paper constructs a pre-writing experimental project — "Current Affairs Studio ",which encompasses five roles, and conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses of its effects in view of a case study. The results reveal that "Current Affairs Studio"avails English learners in stimulating motivation in pre-writing phase and thus promotes their writing abilities.
