The interfacial tension between aliphatic alcohol ether sodium sulfate(AES)/alkylbenzene sulfonate(SAS)compound system at high salinity condition and crude oil is studied. The results of study have shown that this compound system has good solubility in the highly mineralized formation brines and can form ultralow interfacial tension with crude oil in a wide addition range(0.05% to 0.70%).The interfacial tension reduces first and then increases when a single inorganic salt NaCl is added to the solution of a compound system(total addition:0.3%,m(AES):m(SAS)= 1:1.2)selected through optimization, and the interfacial tension can reduce to 10^-4 mN/m in the solution that contains 60 000 mg/L NaCl.The interfacial tension can be maintained at 10^-3 mN/m when Ca^2+ concentration in the compound system is 200 to 800 mg/L,and the salt resistant capacity of the compound system can be further improved if the AES proportion is increased as required.Ultralow interfacial tension can be maintained still after the compound system and quartz sand are used for mixed adsorption for 72 h.It can be seen that this compound system has good performance and can satisfy the requirement for the development of high salinity reservoir.
